A new update dropped for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition Tuesday (perhaps with some more news about it when Rockstar gives their standard Tuesday news update around 10am ET) that carries over bug fixes, the old clouds, and the classic lighting mode, and other improvements from Netflix’s mobile adaptation of the games. This update is exclusive to PC and ninth-generation consoles (e.g. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; this update will seemingly not be coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One). UPDATE: As of Wednesday, November 13, the update has additionally dropped on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Fans were quick to notice other changes such as the removal of Grove Street Games, the developers behind The Definitive Edition at launch before being replaced by Netflix’s studios for mobile.
These updates come just a day after the third anniversary of the Trilogy’s release. Many of these changes arrived with the launch of the mobile versions in December of 2023.
